Her Story
Anna Thomas is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who brings a relational, compassionate approach to working with children, adolescents, families, and couples. With over 20 years of experience supporting kids and families—both domestically and internationally—Anna understands that clients are the experts of their own experiences and that meaningful change takes time.
Anna specializes in working with families of children (ages 3-12+) who find it difficult to express themselves when feeling anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed, particularly those with identified giftedness, neurodivergence, or who are living with emotional intensity. She promotes a comfortable, person-centered space where children can communicate through play and parents can learn to reconnect with their kids.
For couples and families with adolescents, Anna provides compassionate support for conflict resolution—whether you're at the beginning of relational struggles or navigating long-term challenges. She works with coupleship dynamics, co-parenting skill building (whether together or separated/divorced), and helping families move forward when everyday life feels at a standstill.
Anna's international experience working with cross-cultural families across multiple countries has deepened her understanding of Third Culture Kids and families in transition, multi-generational dynamics, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic family matters, and the impact of major transitions, grief, and loss. Her clinical work is informed by her travels, relationships abroad, and genuine appreciation for the creativity of emotions expressed through culture, ethnicity, language, art, music, food, and community.
Originally from the rural Midwest and Chicagoland area, Anna grew up with a love of learning about the world, art, music, and meaningful friendships. She brings this same curiosity and warmth to her therapeutic work. When she's not in session, Anna enjoys cooking, secret acts of kindness, dancing, spending time with friends, laughing, and always being on the lookout for a great adventure.
A Note from Anna
"I believe that you are the expert of your own experience and that you are inherently resourceful as a human being. My role is to walk alongside you—whether you're a child learning to express big feelings through play, a parent learning to reconnect with your child, or a couple or family navigating conflict—and provide a safe, compassionate space where healing and growth can happen. Change takes time, and that's okay. I'm here to support you at your own pace, honoring what is unique, valued, and of concern in your life."
